Jackie Kay
Jackie Kay was co-commissioned by Manchester Literature Festival and manchester jazz festival to a new poem as part of a collaboration with acclaimed jazz troupe The Imaginary Delta and composer Adam Fairhall. Jackie performed her new poem The Imaginary Road as part of Manchester Jazz Festival at the RNCM in July 2014 and again at Matt & Phreds Jazz Club on 19th October 2014 as part of Manchester Literature Festival.
Jackie Kay is a poet, novelist and writer of short stories. She has enjoyed great acclaim for her work for both adults and children. Her novel, Trumpet, won the Guardian Fiction Prize. She has published several poetry collections including The Adoption Papers, Fiere and May Day, three collections of short stories and the memoir, Red Dust Road. From 2016-21 she was the third modern Makar, National Poet for Scotland.
