A decade after PostCapitalism, Paul Mason returns to Manchester Literature Festival to discuss REDS: A Global History of Communism, his provocative new book exploring one of history's most powerful and contested political ideas.

In his bold and unsettling re-evaluation of communism, Paul traces the story of communism across centuries and continents, asking what its legacy means in today's fractured world.

Drawing on the book's key themes, he will also reflect on present-day politics around the globe. Expect a thought-provoking and lively conversation that connects the lessons of history with some of the most urgent questions of our time.

Paul Mason is a writer, broadcaster and political strategist. Formerly Economics Editor at BBC Newsnight and Channel 4 News, he is the author of seven books, including PostCapitalism, How to Stop Fascism and Rare Earth: A Novel.
