To celebrate National Poetry Day, we invite you to encounter three of our most exciting contemporary poets in Tiger Tiger’s stylish karaoke booths. Patience Agbabi is one of Britain’s Next Generation poets – her latest collection, Bloodshot Monochrome (Canongate) provides a glorious snapshot of twenty-first-century Britain. Caroline Bird was somthing of a child prodigy – her first collection of poems Looking through Letterboxes was published by Carcanet when she was just fourteen. Irish poet John McAuliffe writes with a perceptive wit, capturing the contemporary tensions between motion, dislocation and place. His two collections, A Better Life and Next Door, are published by Gallery Press.
Once you’re feeling inspired, there’ll be an opportunity to perform one of the classic poems from our special Lucky Voice poetry menu, available throughout October. Places are limited at this very intimate event, so book early to avoid disappointment.
