Liverpool-born Jimmy McGovern has built a formidable reputation writing powerful dramas for the stage and screen, often based on real events or socially vital issues. His writing credits read like a list of classic television. Having honed his skill working on Brookside, his major breakthrough came with Cracker, one of the best-loved UK TV shows of recent history. With The Lakes and The Street, McGovern has continued to give us great drama but it was with his BAFTA award-winning writing for Hillsborough that his craft was perfected. This is your chance to put your questions to one of Britain's leading screenwriters. Chaired by Kate Rowland, BBC Creative Director, New Writing, the event is run in partnership with BBC writersroom and is designed to offer professional insight for talented emerging writers.

Tickets are free (max 2 per person) and can be reserved on a first come first served basis by emailing the writersroom.events@bbc.co.uk with Jimmy McGovern in the subject header. Tickets available from 1st September (in the interests of fair play any emails received before 9am on Tuesday 1st September will not be considered - so set your devices to remind you the night before!)

Please note tickets must be collected 30 mins before the event or they will be released.
